For the past 30 years, the Japanese American Cultural and Community Center (JACCC) has worked to present, perpetuate, transmit, and promote Japanese and Japanese-American arts and culture to diverse audiences. To celebrate this milestone, the JACCC has planned a full season of activities and events.

The JACCC plays a significant role as a center in Los Angeles dedicated to bringing people together through the sharing of arts and culture. The preeminent presenter of Japanese, Japanese-American, and Asian-American performing and visual arts nationally, the JACCC also provides office space to a variety of non-profit, cultural, educational, and community-based organizations in Los Angeles.

March 13 -14: Spring Celebration by the Ohara School of Ikebana. This special exhibition will showcase masterfully executed original, traditional, and modern living flower artwork that only has a shelf life of two days, with an array of colors and design that should not be missed.10:00am - 4:00pm at the George J. Doizaki Gallery. Free admission.

March 30: JACCC 30th Anniversary Gala. The celebration will feature enka star Jero, taiko artist Kenny Endo, Grammy-award winner Daniel Ho, and Keiko Matsui. 7:00pm at the Aratani/Japan America Theatre and JACCC Plaza. March 31: Jero in Concert. A full evening performance by Japan's first African-American award-winning enka singer. By molding an old musical genre around a modern context in a way that appeals to both old and new generations, Jero has reignited interest in the musical ballads that emerged in Japan's post-war era and redefined the soul of Japan. 8:00pm at the Aratani/Japan America Theatre. Tickets are $100, $80, $60, or $50.

April 24 - May 9: Intertwined: Bamboo and Stem. This exhibition at the George J. Doizaki Gallery will feature sculptural bamboo art by internationally recognized contemporary bamboo master and artist Kenichi Nagakura. Free admission.

April 25: Bamboo Baskets by Contemporary Japanese Masters. Internationally acclaimed bamboo master Kenichi Nagakura will demonstrate how thin slivers of bamboo can be blended together to make some of the most creative bamboo baskets today. 1:00pm - 3:00pm at the JACCC Garden Room. $20 General Admission, $15 JACCC Members, $18 Seniors/Students.

May 15: JACCC's 27th Annual Children's Day Celebration. A day of fun filled, hands-on cultural activities and performances to celebrate the health and happiness of children, kicked off with a Little Tokyo favorite, the Chibi-K: Kids Fun Run, followed by the Asian Pacific Arts & Crafts Faire and Cultural Discovery Workshops led by local artists and professionals. 10:00am - 4:00pm at the JACCC Campus. June - August: Summer Outdoor Film Series on the JACCC Plaza. Classic movies, eclectic food vendors, and lively music all come together in the JACCC Plaza as families, friends and downtown L.A. neighbors join in on the festivities under the Little Tokyo sky. Film schedule is TBA. Free admission.
