The mission of Breathe LA is to promote clean air and healthy lungs in Los Angeles County through research, education, and technology.

Breathe LA programs and services are multi-cultural, multi-disciplined and atuned to the specific challenges of Los Angeles County. Breathe LA provides educational and health awareness programs, conducts lung health research, promotes clean air initiatives, enhances professional development for respiratory health professionals, and works with local communities, elected leaders, business leaders and the health education community to increase awareness and effective advocacy.

3rd Annual Green Salon Series: The series will bring together journalists, elected officials, issue experts, policy analysts, thought leaders, neighborhood council members, and other community stakeholders to focus on how the Los Angeles community is taking on sustainable solutions as they relate to California's landmark legislation, AB 32 Global Warming Act. Series dates are March 16, May 19, July 22, Sept 16, and Oct 21.

Breath of Life Awards: On Thursday, April 8, Breathe LA will recognize honorees who strive to promote clean air and healthy lungs in Los Angeles County every day. This year's honorees include Union Bank CEO Masa Tanaka, LA City Councilwoman Jan Perry, and the BMW Group. The event will be held at the Petersen Automotive Museum and will include a private hosted tour, special viewings of new vehicles and green energy products, a silent auction, dinner, awards reception, and live jazz music.

O24u: This student-to-student program serves K-8 students in after school programs and classroom settings throughout Los Angeles County with fun, hands on learning activities that instruct and empower children with knowledge about the environment and their personal responsibilities. Started in 2008, O24u now also offers online environmental education that serves students at home and in the classroom with interactive games and learning activities.

4-U-N-I: A peer-to-peer mentoring program that makes it cool to quit, 4-U-N-I Provides high school students with community service on-campus club activities that encourage teen-to-teen mentoring, leadership development and creative problem solving. Breathe LA 4-U-N-I clubs have developed animated anti-smoking PSAs, partnered with UCLA for teen tobacco cessation research project, and celebrated a high-tech Text-2-Quit campaign for World No Tobacco Day 2009.
