The proud patriotism and heritage of Mexicans is celebrated in this dramatic float commemorating Mexico’s bicentennial of its Independence and the centennial of its Revolution. At the front of the float is a floral replica of the prominent statue of the Angel of Independence. This symbol is recognizable to all Mexicans and to all those that have visited Mexico City. The statue was originally constructed to celebrate the 1910 centennial of Mexico’s Independence from Spain. Two magnificent floral graphs at the base of the Angel of Independence are of Mexican heroes Miguel Hidalgo, a priest and a leader of the Mexican War of Independence and Francisco I. Madero, leader of Mexico´s Revolution who defeated the dictatorship of Porfirio Diaz and is considered the founding father of Mexico´s modern democracy. In the center of the float are 38,000 solid roses spelling out “Mexico-2010” under floral pennants of red, white and green with bas-relief sculptures of Mexico’s coat of arms depicting an eagle perched on a cactus with a snake in its beak At the rear of the float, in a symbolic salute to the origins of the indigenous people of Mexico, an impressive and monumental Aztec architectural replica of a pyramid is crowned by a reproduction of the Aztec Sun Stone (also referred to as the Aztec calendar). Flanking the pyramid are sculptured serpent heads and floral flame bowls.<br>
