TV Wisemen: life lessons learned from dads on the tube
Fathers have taught us a lot. How to throw a baseball. How to drive. What sex is (in the most awkward was possible). We appreciate this. But our dads couldn't (and still can't) be on call 24-7 (they have jobs and bills and wives and such). So we've often turned toward TV dads to fill our "words of wisdom" needs. To be fair, some of their insight has not exactly been "wise," but we take note anyway. So in celebration of Father's Day on Sunday, here's a look at our favorite life lessons learned from dads on the tube. JORDAN BARTEL, B

TV DAD: Cliff Huxtable, "The Cosby Show"
PLAYED BY: Bill Cosby
LESSON LEARNED: When murder can occur on a farm IN HIS WORDS: "A long, long time ago, parents didn't talk much to their children. At 4 a.m, the father would come home, look at his son sleeping, wake him up and say 'Boy, go out and plough the field now.' And the boy would rub his eye and say, 'Yes, Pa.' And occasionally, the son would ask the father how much he'd get paid. And the father grabbed the plough, and ran over his son." |
