Meridian, Idaho -- An 18-month old boy is recovering after being impaled through the neck by a pencil.
It happened on a playground outside the family's apartment in Meridian, Idaho.
Auston Banks was walking with a pencil in his hand when he walked in front of a girl on a swing.
The girl's foot hit the end of the pencil and it went through his mouth and out the back of his neck.
Auston was rushed to a hospital where doctors managed to remove it.
They say the pencil came dangerously close to a critical artery.
