SEATTLE—
A 22-year-old Lakewood man is accused of knowingly exposing other men to HIV. Charging documents reveal Oliberio Moreno worked as a prostitute when he started having unprotected sex with at least five men.Moreno advertised his 'escort' service on Craigslist and other online sites. He worked in the Seattle/Tacoma area.
Moreno was arrested in April after an undercover sting. An undercover cop was promised sex with Moreno in exchange for $100. According to court documents, he told the detective he tested clean.
Moreno has since been charged with one count of reckless endangerment in a seperate incident earlier this year.
During the investigation and questioning of Moreno, detectives say he first denied being infected with any diseases. Only when detectives revealed they had information about his HIV status, Moreno admitted, "Yes, I have HIV."
Court documents reveal Moreno tested positive for the disease in November 2009. When questioned by detectives, Moreno admitted to having unprotected anal sex with at least five men.
Moreno told detectives the reasons he didn't reveal his HIV status to clients is because he was embarrassed and wanted to make money.
Three out of the five men have been contacted by detectives who claim Moreno never revealed his HIV status. Two of them asked Moreno if he was 'clean.' They told detectives Moreno claimed he was clean.
Moreno is scheduled to appear in court on June 15. He is being held on $40,000 bail at the King County Jail.
