How do you look in the morning? The editors of xoJane.com asked readers to submit pictures just after they wake up. So, when your alarm clock goes off, grab your camera and snap a photo. If you have any makeup on, it has to be from the night before.On the website, they refer to it as "the natural look."
"I think I look really cute when i wake up in the morning," laughed Amanda Bell of Dallas.
But, here's the rub, that picture is going to get posted on the xoJane website.
The idea was inspired by a recent post when they asked readers to send in pictures of their bellies. There was a big response then, too.
"I think they're gorgeous. It shows women in their natural beauty. It shows us before we're all dolled up," said Xzarche Stegall.
We wanted to see what people thought about the photos, so we brought a few to Southlake Town Square.
We got a mixed reaction.
"Oh my god. It looks like a mug shot," said Randy Barbour, at first glance. "I feel sorry for my husband when he has to make up to me in the morning without makeup. Would I put this on the web? There is no way!"
The whole idea was envisioned, admittedly, for web traffic, but, also, as a "solidarity/curiosity sort of thing"
"My generation, it's more of a 'This is me. This is who I am. Take me, leave me,'" said Bell.
It's getting a lot of attention, and a lot of that traffic they were looking for.
Oh, and there's a message here, too. Right?
"Kinda just lets women know that beauty is more than just glitz and glamour," said Stegall.
"Okay, that may be to some lesser or greater extent, but I'm too vain. I'm too shallow. I'm sorry. It's not happening. Uh-uh," said Barbour.
