SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (KTLA) -- Police arrested a Highland man Tuesday suspected in a 2010 homicide after he led officers on a high-speed freeway pursuit.
The Inland Regional Apprehension Task Force (IRAT) has worked since May 7, 2010 to find Santiago Orozco, 22, who disappeared after the shooting death of 23-year-old San Bernardino man Alejandro Chavez.
Task force members received information that Orozco was in San Bernardino and they spotted in him driving when they went there to search for him, according to a news release issued by the San Bernardino Police Department.
Police officers tried to pull Orozco over but he refused and sped away at a high rate of speed. Officers gave chase for several minutes, winding through downtown San Bernardino and later onto the nearby 10 Freeway, according to the news release.
Orozco stopped the car in Colton and officers took him into custody without incident. He was later arrested on suspicion of murder and booked at West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga.
He is being held without bail.
