VAN NUYS -- A police pursuit involving a suspected drunken driver came to a crashing end early Thursday along the 405 Freeway in Van Nuys. KTLA's Sky 5 helicopter captured exclusive video of the crash.

The high-speed chase began around 4:30 a.m. on Lankershim Blvd. in North Hollywood when officers attempted to pull the driver over on suspicion of DUI.

The suspect drove off and ran several red lights as the pursuit traveled along Sherman Way.

The pursuit continued onto the northbound 405 Freeway for about a mile until the suspect crashed his vehicle into a wall near Roscoe Blvd., sending the car into shrubs along the shoulder.

Police pulled the man from the car and placed him on a stretcher.

The man was transported to a local hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.
