LAKE ELSINORE -- A 5-year-old boy has died as a result of a boating accident on Lake Elsinore in Riverside County.
The boy, identified as Lucas Garrison of Riverside, was riding in a boat with his father and uncle Sunday afternoon when the boat flipped over, according to Riverside County Sheriff's Sgt. Joe Borja.
A good samaritan pulled the Lucas out of the water. He was reported to be in full cardiac arrest.
The child was rushed to Inland Valley Medical Center where he died. The boy's father was also taken to the hospital. His uncle refused treatment at the scene.
What led to the accident is unknown at this time, Sgt. Borja said. An investigation into what factors contributed to the crash, such speeding or alcohol, is underway.
Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact Deputy Bikul or Deputy Beeman of the Lake Elsinore Police Department.
