ANAHEIM, Calif. (KTLA) -- Two brothers were arrested in Santa Ana Tuesday, after detectives serving a search warrant at their home found a large cache of weapons and ammunition, including an AK-47.

The suspects, 32-year-old Esteban Muniz and 24-year-old Jose Muniz, were booked at the Santa Ana City Jail.

Police say three juveniles between the ages of 10 and 16 also lived at the home, located in the 200 block of Chantilly Street.

The Muniz brothers are gang members, according to Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna, and were prohibited from being around firearms.

Esteban Muniz was on nonrevocable parole, and Jose Muniz was barred due to a domestic violence conviction.

Among the weapons found were high-powered rifles, at least one assault rifle altered to look automatic, a baton, flak jackets and ammunition, according to Bertagna.

Police are now trying to determine how the brothers obtained the weapons.

Investigators think they planned to sell them.

Esteban Muniz pleaded guilty to felony firearm and drug charges in 2009, Orange County Superior Court records show.

He also pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor battery charge in early January.
