LOS ANGELES -- Three people were wounded, one critically, in separate but related shootings in Southwest Los Angeles early Saturday.

The apparently random shootings happened along an eight-block stretch Arlington Avenue around midnight.

A 40-year-old woman driving an SUV was shot several times near Arlington and 52nd Street. She was hit in the head, and was in critical condition Saturday, according to Officer Peter Casey of the 77th Street Division.

Another victim, a 40-year-old male pedestrian, was hit by gunfire on 45th Street near Arlington.

He was hit in the stomach, and was in very serious condition. He underwent surgery, and is not stable and expected to survive, Casey said.

The third victim, a 29-year-old man, was shot in the arm while walking on the street. His wounds were non-life-threatening.

Investigators were collecting shell casings over the blocks-long area. They think the attacks were the work of shooters in three different vehicles.

Witnesses said the vehicles were red, black and blue, but no further details were immediately available.

The shootings may be gang-related, police said, but none of the victims has ties to gangs.

Anyone with more information was asked to call the LAPD's 77th Street Station at (213) 485-4164.
