Fatal hit-and-run on Arrow Highway in Fontana (KTLA-TV) |
FONTANA, Calif. (KTLA) -- The Highway Patrol says they have identified a woman suspected in a deadly hit-and-run in an unincorporated area of Fontana.
The accident happened Wednesday night in the 13800 block of Arrow Highway near the Fontana Gardens apartment complex.
The victim, 61-year-old Dennis Kelly Timms, was crossing the street to go to a convenience store when he was hit, authorities said.
There is no crosswalk at the intersection and the victim was wearing dark clothing.
"As you can see by looking down the street, there is a street light, but it is a fairly dark street," CHP Sgt. Ron Burch said.
Timms was dragged about 150 feet, according to authorities, before the vehicle stopped and then continued on.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect may have been driving a champagne-colored Lincoln Navigator.
The CHP is investigating the possibility that an 82-year-old woman was behind the wheel.
No formal charges have been filed yet, according to a CHP news release.
Anyone with information is asked to call the CHP.
