LOS ANGELES (KTLA) -- A father of four from Hawthorne is taking home one-of-a-kind prize -- Los Angeles Laker Ron Artest's 2010 NBA championship ring.
Raymond Mikkael won the ring in a charity raffle Saturday night after the Lakers' game against the Heat.
Artest says he raised over $500,000 through the auction. The money will go to charities that provide mental health awareness and treatment services for kids.
Artest says he doesn't regret giving away his ring because it's for a cause that's very important to him.
Artest has been open about the court-ordered anger management therapy he had to complete following a brawl with a fan during a game in 2004. Artest was then playing for the Indiana Pacers. He was suspended for 73 games, for a loss of about $6 million.
After the Lakers' won the 2010 NBA championship, Artest publicly credited a mental health professional for helping him turn his life around.
Now, Artest says he's eager to go out and win another ring.
