MOUNT VERNON, NY -- A nude woman was spotted repeatedly slamming her baby boy's head into the sidewalk, police said.
The incident occurred shortly after 1:30 Friday afternoon on East Lincoln Avenue in Mount Vernon.
When authorities arrived on the scene, the injured 6-month-old was reportedly handed over to Mount Vernon Police Commissioner, David Chong.
The 6 month old baby was then rushed to Mount Vernon Hospital, and later transferred to the Westchester Medical Center trauma unit . He is currently in critical condition.
The woman was taken into custody.
Her mental condition is being evaluated.
The police commissioner, who was very shaken up following the incident said "no normal person slams their baby's head into the ground repeatedly like this."
