NORTH HOLLYWOOD -- Police are searching for the hit and run driver who nearly killed a 40-year-old bicyclist in North Hollywood.
It happened Wednesday night at Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Archwood Street.
The suspect was said to have been driving a black sports utility vehicle -- possibly a Nissan Pathfinder, according to LAPD Det. Bill Bustos.
Bustos said the driver knew that he or she hit someone and sped off anyway, leaving the bicyclist in the middle of the road.
The name of the victim was not immediately released.
He was reported in critical condition at a nearby hospital.
