A major portion of highway 330 to Big Bear gave way last December. |
SAN BERNARDINO (KTLA) - Highway 330 heading to Big Bear has temporarily re-opened just in time for Memorial Day weekend travelers.
Caltrans crews have been working for months to restore a major portion of the highway that gave way under heavy snow and record rainfall last December.
The road between Running Springs and Highland will be open beginning Friday, May 27, at 6:00 a.m. to Monday, May 30, at 11:59 p.m.
Highway 330 will go back to commute hours on Tuesday, May 31.
The commute hours are Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. until further notice, officials said.
No one was injured in the collapse that left a massive hole in the road and closed traffic for months.
Motorists wanting to reach Big Bear were forced to use Highways 18 and 38 as an alternate.
