LOS ANGELES (KTLA) -- The Metro Blue Line has re-opened after a power failure at the main yard caused delays much of the day on Thursday.

Metropolitan Transportation Authority officials say the power failure caused trains that normally run every six minutes to run every 20 minutes or more.

There were delays from the Imperial/Wilmington station in Willowbrook, south of Watts, all the way to the 7th Street/Metro Center station in downtown Los Angeles, Metro officials said.

Metro added additional service to the Silver Line bus between downtown Los Angeles and the Harbor Freeway station, as an alternative for downtown passengers trying to get to the Green Line.

Officials are still looking into what caused the power failure.

The Blue Line is one of the most heavily-used rail lines in the nation, moving close to 100,000 people per day.
