LONG BEACH -- Investigators say video shows the southbound Metro Blue Line train ran a stop signal when it crashed into a Long Beach Police car on Wednesday.

Police say the officer, involved in the collision, is hospitalized and in stable condition after being treated for moderate injuries. The policeman is being identified only as a four-year veteran assigned to the West Patrol Division.

Ten train passengers were treated for minor injuries and taken to local hospitals, said Long Beach Fire Battalion Chief Frank Hayes.

Long Beach Police Department detectives investigating the collision say they viewed onboard video from the southbound train as well as a train stopped on the northbound tracks.

Investigators say the videos show the police car and pedestrians crossing Long Beach Boulevard on a green light. The video from the southbound train shows a red light for southbound traffic and a stop signal for the train.

Detectives continue to investigate why the southbound train ran the stop signal.

The crash that happened at 1pm at Long Beach Boulevard and Pacific Coast Highway.
