LAKE HAVASU -- Authorities are searching for the driver of a boat that struck and killed a Huntington Beach father at Lake Havasu without stopping.
30-year-old Eric Norris fell off an inflatable chair as he was being towed by a boat around 5:30 p.m. Saturday near Havasu Landing Casino, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.
Norris was floating in the water, waiting for his boat to come back and pick him up when he was hit by another boat, sheriff's officials said.
Bystanders unsuccessfully tried to revive him.
He leaves behind a 7-year-old son.
The driver of the boat who ran him over did not stop, sheriff's investigators said.
They are now looking for the driver of that vessel.
It is described as a 25-foot-long red boat with a white stripe. It has a V-hull and an enclosed bow.
The boat was last seen leaving the scene of the accident in the direction of Chalk Cliffs.
A man described as a white, heavy-set male with a moustache and wearing a hat was driving the boat.
Also in the boat was a white female with blonde hair.
Norris was a popular fitness trainer who worked at Anytime Fitness in Fountain Valley. He was also an avid student of jiu jitsu.
Norris lived with his 88-year-old grandmother, acting as her sole caregiver and doing the laundry and other household chores.
Friends have set up a memorial website at www.ericoctopusnorris.com with information about Norris and about donating money to help cover Norris' funeral costs.
Memorial bracelets also are being sold for $10 to help raise money.
The bracelets are blue, his son's favorite color.
Any additional money will be placed into a trust fund for Norris' son.
