BOYLE HEIGHTS, Calif. (KTLA) -- A vigil was held Thursday for 17-year-old Michelle Lozano, whose body was found in a plastic storage container alongside a freeway off-ramp.

Investigators say Lozano's body was discovered by a homeless person shortly before 11 p.m. Monday near the Cesar Chavez off-ramp of Interstates 5 and 10 in the Boyle Heights area.

Police say her body had been wrapped in plastic bags, put in a plastic container and dumped over a masonry barrier along the freeway.

When the container hit the ground, it broke open, police said.

Authorities say the cause of death was not obvious and are awaiting the results of an autopsy.
