SHERMAN OAKS -- Charlie Sheen's wife is hospitalized in intensive care in Los Angeles, according to the actor's attorney.

Yale Galanter said Wednesday that Brooke (Mueller) Sheen, 32, was running a fever of 105 degrees when she was taken to Sherman Oaks Hospital.

Galanter says the fever is due to an infection she developed after oral surgery.

Brooke's mother, Moira Fiore, told People that her daughter has pneumonia in both lungs. Fiore also said Brooke's kidneys are filled with infection that spread after she "waited too long" to have an impacted wisdom tooth removed.

By late Wednesday afternoon, Brooke had received heavy doses of antibiotics to control the infection, which was improving, but had developed pneumonia and remained in intensive care, Galanter said.

Charlie Sheen, 44, and Brooke were expected to be at a court hearing Friday in the Colorado resort town of Aspen, following his arrest on December 25 in for a domestic dispute.

Authorities arrested the "Two and a Half Men" star on suspicion of felony menacing, second-degree assault, and criminal mischief. Brooke Sheen told police he put a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her.

Galanter was going to ask the judge to throw out or revise a protection order that prevents Sheen and his wife from contacting each other. They have not been seen together in public since the Christmas incident. Such protection orders are standard in cases of alleged domestic violence. Prosecutors said they opposed Sheen's request.

District Court Judge James B. Boyd delayed the hearing until February 8th.

Sheen was granted permission to visit his wife in the hospital Wednesday.

Sheen denies threatening his wife, and attorneys for the couple, who has twin baby sons, say they want to try to reconcile.
