WOODLAND HILLS -- A man who called police to report a home-invasion robbery was arrested after authorities found an illegal marijuana-growing operation inside his Woodland Hills home.

Police got the call around 9:15 p.m. Monday in the 22000 stretch of Mulholland Drive, said Sgt. Jeff Collada of the Los Angeles Police Department's Topanga Station.

A man and woman claimed someone forced their way into the home and took more than $1,000.

But police say when they searched the home they found a large amount of pot which was being grown illegally.

The male resident was taken into custody.

"We believe this all stems from the narcotics activity in the residence," Sgt. Thomas Mason of the Topanga Station said.

The marijuana-growing operation included lighting, hydroponics and ventilation, Mason said.

Police are searching for two men in their 20s who broke into the home, beat the residents and took cash from them.
