LOS ANGELES -- A man who led Los Angeles police on a chase in a stolen minivan, and then barricaded himself in an apartment, was in jail Sunday facing possible felony charges.

The 20-something man was arrested about 11 p.m. Saturday after a standoff with SWAT officers near Figueroa Street and Avenue 47.

LAPD officers responded to a stolen vehicle suspect around 5:00 p.m. Saturday night.

They tried to pull over the minivan, but the suspect fled and forced his way into an apartment, according to Sgt. Douglas Bowers of the Northeast Station.

SWAT was sent to the scene around 8:30 p.m.

Police evacuated some adjacent apartments, while the suspect allegedly refused to let a woman and child leave the apartment he forced his way into.
