LOS ANGELES -- A Los Angeles man accused of stealing $150,000 in jewelry from actress Julie Newmar has pleaded no contest to grand theft.
Robert Ouriel, 49, entered the plea Tuesday in Los Angeles and was sentenced to three years probation and 45 days of community service.
Actress Julie Newmar, 76, best known for her role as "Catwoman" on the 1960's "Batman" TV series, says the jewelry was stolen from her West Los Angeles home in late October or early November of 2008, according to the District Attorney's Office.
When she saw some of the stolen items on eBay, she contacted authorities.
Prosecutors say Ouriel was an acquaintance of Newmar's and sent the items to an Illinois pawn shop that listed them for sale online.
Ouriel's attorney Jeffrey Rubenstein says his client took the plea bargain so he could move on with his life.
A restitution hearing is scheduled for Sept. 14.
