LONG BEACH (KTLA) -- A group of cyclists beat a JetBlue flight from Burbank to Long Beach in a "Carmageddon" race challenge Saturday.

The race challenge came about when bloggers dared urban bicyclist group "Wolfpack Hustle" to go head-to-head with a special"Carmageddon" flight from Burbank to Long Beach offered during the weekend closure of a 10-mile stretch of the 405 for $4 one-way.

The six members of the group, who bike 50 to 70 miles every Monday, left at 10:50am Saturday from the intersection of Cahuenga and Chandler for the 38.4-mile ride.

Bicycle blogger Joe Anthony left home at the same time to drive himself to the airport in order to catch the 12:20pm flight.

The flight landed at 1:05pm in Long Beach, where Anthony caught a ride to the finish line at Long Beach Aquarium.

Aside from media and a small group of supporters, the starting line was relatively quiet.
