SACRAMENTO -- A 31-year old mother is being held on
suspicion of murder in the drowning of her 3-year-old daughter.
Sacramento police say Anul Ram was arrested after officers went to the home early Sunday and found the girl unresponsive.
The child was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Sacramento Police spokesman Konrad von Schoech says police had gone to the home after getting a call from Ram's estranged husband, who is the father of the girl, as well as a 7-year-old boy.
Police say the boy was unharmed.
