Downey police have identified the victim as 53-year-old Hermilio Franco.

Another man, believed to be a suspect, was also wounded and taken into custody, Rego said, adding that he was being treated at a local hospital.

Neighbors were evacuated from their homes while police searched for a second possible suspect.

Family members say Franco owned a nightclub.

It was not immediately known if he was already home when the shooting occurred or if he was followed home by the suspect.

Family members say Franco's wife and 28-year-old pregnant daughter were also inside the home when the shots rang out.
