LOS ANGELES (KTLA) -- A 22-year-old man who plowed his car into a group of bicyclists while drunk nearly two years ago, killing one of them, has been convicted of second-degree murder and other charges.
A jury found Marco Antonio Valencia guilty Wednesday in the July 11, 2009 crash that killed killing 43-year-old Joseph Novotny of Stevenson Ranch.
Valencia struck four cyclists on Bouquet Canyon Road in the Angeles National Forest and drove off. He was arrested 1 ½ hours later.
Three cyclists were injured.
At the time, Valencia was on probation for two previous drunken driving convictions.
A jury has also convicted Valencia of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident.
He's facing up to life in prison.
Valencia is set to be sentenced May 26.
