LOS ANGELES -- A suspected drunk driver was arrested Friday after crashing a van into a Los Angeles County police vehicle and then driving away, authorities said.
The driver struck the patrol car just before midnight at South Vermont Avenue and West Imperial Highway in South Los Angeles and fled, said California Highway Patrol Officer Patrick Kimball.
The driver was located around 1 a.m. and arrested on suspicion of DUI, Kimball said.
The occupants of the patrol car were not seriously injured, however, at least one of the officers was checked out at the hospital as precaution, CHP officials said.
Los Angeles County Police operate under the county Office of Public Safety.
