LOS ANGELES - A geyser stretching nearly 20-feet high could be seen coming from a broken water pipe Monday morning.

Firefighters were dispatched to the corner of Van Nuys Boulevard and Sherman Way, said Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Department of Water and Power crews were also sent to shut off the 54-inch main which carries recycled water used for irrigation and industrial purposes.

It's not clear yet what caused the main to burst, but water service was not expected to be interrupted to any LADWP customers.

Officials say one or two lanes could be shut down for a couple of days while the road is repaired.
