TUJUNGA -- The home featured in the 1980s movie "E.T. The Extra Terrestrial" was among hundreds of homes threatened by flames in the Seven Hills area of Tujunga where the out of control Station Fire continues to burn.

The home sits on a cul-de-sac along Lonzo Street in Tujunga Canyon.

Several scenes from the 1982 movie were shot at the home, including the dramatic scene where tents and piping were set up while E.T. was dying.

Homeowner Tony Piwowar says he's been keeping a close eye on the flames and was ready to evacuate if the fire moved closer.

"Ironically, the flames were miles away over at the top of the ridge for days and then suddenly, they're here and they're on our backs," Piwowar told KTLA.

So far, fire crews have been able to attack the flames from above and spare the house.

Much of the dry brush in the area has not burned for 60 to 100 years and is fueling the explosive flames.

Fire officials say full containment may not be reached until September 15, however, they're optimistic that the containment level will grow throughout the day.
