DALLAS, N.C. -- A 7-year-old girl is the only survivor of a murder-suicide that left four family members dead, including her pregnant mother.
Gaston County Police Capt. Joe Ramey says the father, Austen Blake Minter, shot the woman and kids in the kitchen of their home sometime between midnight Thursday and 1 p.m. Friday.
The victims were identified as 24-year-old Tracy Lee Hedgepath, who was 3 months pregnant; 6-year-old Austen Blake Minter II; and 3-year-old Serenity Tyvon Minter.
Hedgepath's 7-year old daughter, Destiny, was also shot in the head.
She remains hospitalized in critical condition, but was able to tell police that her father shot her family.
The shooting were discovered by Hedgepath's parents when she failed to show up for work.
