BURBANK (KTLA) -- A 14-month-old girl left inside a 115-degree car Thursday while her father filled a prescription at Costco was released to her mother Thursday evening, police said.
The girl, who was not hurt, was initially taken to police headquarters but was released to her mother Thursday night.
The father, 38-year-old Glendale resident Edik Magardomyan, was arrested Thursday after leaving the baby in the locked car when exiting the store located on West Empire Avenue.
He was released that day on $100,000 bail. The Los Angeles County District Attorney had not filed charges against Magardomyan as yet, officials said Friday.
Someone spotted the child around 11:30 a.m. inside the vehicle, which was locked with slightly cracked windows, and called 911.
Officers found a baby inside the vehicle, sweating while sleeping in a car seat.
Authorities said a heat sensor gauged the inside of the vehicle's temperature to be at 115 degrees.
Police were unable to open the vehicle and remove the toddler.
"We couldn't open the doors because there was very little space [in the open windows]," Burbank Police Sgt. Robert Quesada told KTLA. "Thank God there was a woman very petite in stature who offered to help and she was able to reach in and unlock the door."
When paramedics arrived, they examined the baby and found her to be okay.
About ten minutes later, Magardomyan returned to the vehicle and was arrested for child endangerment.
He was later released on $100,000 bail.
