HESPERIA -- A 27-year-old father has been arrested for allegedly torturing his infant son, leaving the baby with a broken leg and slashed scrotum, according to sheriff's detectives.
Chauncey Taylor, 27, was arrested Friday and booked for investigation of torture and child abuse. Bail is set at $500,000.
The arrest came on the same day Taylor's 5-month-old son was taken to Loma Linda University Medical Center with a lacerated scrotum. Surgeons noticed the cut was smooth and appeared to have been inflicted externally.
San Bernardino County sheriff's investigators say this was not an accident.
"This has been going on for a few months," Sheriff's spokeswoman Arden Wiltshire said, adding that the infant also had a broken leg, multiple bruises and possible head trauma.
Investigators say they do not suspect the baby's mother inflicted any of the injuries.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Moody at (909) 387-3615 or call WeTip at (800) 78-CRIME.
