An LAFD engine was reportedly used as a backdrop to shoot explicit scenes with an X-rated movie actress during a porn film shot at Venice Beach.
The story was first reported by NBC4, which posted clips showing a scantily-clad actress exposing herself to passers-by on Venice Beach, and said firefighters helped to set up the shoot.
A second shoot allegedly used a truck from Station 41 in Hollywood.
"It's currently under investigation," said LAFD spokesman Jaime Moore, adding that Fire Chief Brian Cummings "has asked that there be a thorough investigation to determine if there was any wrongdoing by any firefighters."
LAFD policy states that employees must "operate apparatus in a way that does not compromise the reputation of the department."
The investigation is trying to determine to what extent fire personnel had knowledge of the shoot and whether any firefighters participated, he said.
No firefighters have been fired or placed on leave in relation to the incidents to date, he said.
