LOS ANGELES (KTLA) -- Budget-friendly clothing store, 'Forever 21,' appears to have pulled a controversial girls t-shirt that reads, "Allergic To Algebra" from its website.
Some parents complained, saying the shirt's message is sexist and sends the wrong message.
"I really wouldn't want my daughter to be wearing it," said one mother.
"We should be promoting our kids to go out there and get an education and strive for excellence," a father said.
Similar shirts selling at Forever 21 include those that read: "School Is Fun ... When It's Over" and"II [Heart] School ... Not."
A local Forever 21 store told KTLA that the "School Is Fun" t-shirt is so popular, they're sold out at that location.
"On the surface it seems pretty benign. But in our experience, what we know is that messaging like that cuts deeper," said Kathryn Seiffert, Executive Director of Girls Inc., which empowers females to be self-confident and smart.
Some shoppers say it's a harmless, fun shirt.
"If you don't want to do your homework, that's on you -- not the shirt," one shopper told KTLA.
Forever 21 did not immediately comment on the controversy.
Earlier this month, retailer JC Penney stopped selling a t-shirt that read: "I am too pretty for homework so my brother has to do it for me" after it received a flood of complaints.
