LOS ANGELES -- Police say the mother of a 4-year old boy found wandering unattended on the street has been located.
LAPD officers were called to the area of 91st Street and Stanford Avenue Wednesday morning after a resident reported finding a young boy.
The boy told police his name was 'Tyre' but could not remember his last name or his address.
Officers drove around the surrounding area with Tyre in an attempt to locate the child's family but they were unable to locate anyone.
Several hours later, the boys mother was found.
The child was with DCFS as of early Wednesday evening, but was later reunited with his mother.
Authorities did not release details of why the child was left wandering around for so long.
The case is being handled by DCFS.
