FRENCH VALLEY, Calif. (KTLA) -- Deputies arrested a man early Saturday morning saying he led them on a high-speed freeway pursuit to Barstow after he allegedly raped a woman.
Riverside County sheriff's deputies responded just after 5:15 a.m. to a report of the alleged rape at a home in the 3200 block of Dowling Court. A woman was at the home with a friend identified as Bryan Tangas, 23, of French Valley, when he raped her, according to a sheriff's news release.
The woman managed to escape the home and call 9-1-1 for help. Tangas got into his vehicle and drove through the neighborhood looking for her, according to the news release.
The woman successfully hid from Tangas until deputies arrived and found her.
Other deputies searching for Tangas found him driving near the intersection of Buck and Borell roads. When they tried to pull him over, Tangas took off on Rancho California Road toward Temecula, according to the news release.
Tangas allegedly led the deputies in a pursuit through Temecula until reaching the 15 Freeway, where he headed north.
That's where California Highway Patrol officers took over the pursuit, chasing Tangas north on the freeway until he reached Barstow. Officers stopped Tangas's vehicle using a spike strip, according to the news release.
CHP officer brought Tangas back to Riverside County, where he was booked at Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta.
