GLENDALE, Calif. (KTLA) -- A former volleyball coach at Pasadena City College has been arrested for allegedly recording up a woman's skirt on an escalator at the Glendale Galleria.
Police say they noticed 49-year-old John Puncel holding a cell phone and watching people on the escalator.
He then allegedly got on the escalator, stepped toward a woman wearing a knee-high skirt and held the phone under her skirt for a few seconds.
Officers immediately approached Puncel, and his cell phone camera was still recording, authorities said.
Puncel tried to back away and then struggled with officers, according to police reports.
He also allegedly tried to press some buttons on the phone.
One of the officers suffered a cut in the struggle.
The cell phone recording showed Puncel's fingers, and then the woman's legs and buttocks, police said.
Officers spoke to the woman, who said she was appalled and did not know Puncel.
Police believe they may have found some child porn in addition to the upskirt recordings.
Detectives obtained a search warrant and seized Puncel's computers and phones.
In 2005, Puncel worked for a year as an assistant women's volleyball coach at Pasadena City College.
He has been released pending the results of a forensics investigation.
