ENCINO -- Actor David Hasselhoff denies reports that he has relapsed in his battle with alcoholism and blames his recent hospitalization on an "equilibrium imbalance" caused by a new prescription.

Hasselhoff, 57, was rushed to the hospital Sunday night after his 17-year-old daughter called 9-1-1.

Paramedics responded to a 911 call at Hasselhoff's home around 3:30 p.m., according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Hasselhoff was home with his daughter Hayley, who reportedly called her mother Pamela and said her dad was "extremely drunk".

The troubled actor has discussed his battle with alcoholism in the past.

In 2007, his oldest daughter videotaped Hasselhoff drunk and eating a cheesburger while lying on the floor.

Hasselhoff says the latest health scare was the result of a drug he was prescribed to treat an ear infection. A spokesperson for the Baywatch star says he suffered an "equilibrium imbalance" when Antivert -- which can cause drowsiness, dry mouth and blurred vision -- reacted with another drug, Antabuse, which he is taking to treat alcoholism.

Hasselhoff was released from the hospital an hour after being admitted.
