HAWTHORNE, Calif. -- The mayor of Hawthorne is accused of stealing a commercial food mixer from the Hawthorne School District.
Mayor Larry Guidi was charged Tuesday with felony second-degree burglary and grand theft.
Prosecutors say Guidi stole the kitchen appliance so he could make dough to cook in a home pizza oven.
Security video captured the mayor stealing the giant mixer and a cart.
The 52-year-old Guidi has been mayor of Hawthorne for 17 years.
He also works as a warehouse operations manager for the city's school district, which has placed him on leave.
