EATON CANYON -- Three men and a boy who became lost hiking and spent the night in Eaton Canyon have been rescued by helicopter, according to L.A. County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Nicole Nishida.
The hikers became stranded around 4:30 p.m. Saturday when what authorities call a "torrent of water and debris flow" made it impossible for them to move from their position.
The area was so dangerous that rescuers had to wait for rain to subside before they could get the hikers out. The group was supplied with waterproof clothing and partial shelter to hold them over.
A sheriff's helicopter was able to hoist the "cold and shaken" people out by around 7:00 a.m. Sunday when the sun rose, according to Los Angeles County sheriff's Sgt. Phil Barth.
The hikers included an 11-year-old, two 18-year-olds and a 43-year-old.
No injuries were reported.
