Flames Erupt At A Hollywood Apartment Building (November 9, 2009)
HOLLYWOOD -- A four-story apartment building under construction in Hollywood erupted in a blaze Monday night that proved to be stubborn for firefighters, but no injuries resulted.
The fire at 1425 N. Detroit St. near Sunset Boulevard broke out about 6:15 p.m. and flames licked the third and fourth floors before breaking through the building's roof, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Erik Scott.
It took 111 firefighters one hour, 17 minutes to finish off the blaze, he said. It was possible the building was unoccupied at the time.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
