Family Tied Up During Arcadia Home-Invasion Robbery
ARCADIA -- The search is on for three armed suspects who tied up a family and ransacked their home in Arcadia, marking the area's second violent robbery in less than a week, police said.

The robbery occurred around 7:20 a.m. Sunday in the 100 block of West Forest Avenue, near Foothill Boulevard, said Sgt. Dean Caputo of the Arcadia Police Department.

The suspects confronted a man in his driveway and forced him inside his home at gunpoint, Caputo said.

"Once inside, they bound his hands and feet. One suspect then confronted the victim's wife and 9-year-old son at gunpoint and also bound them."

Caputo said the father was choked until he gave the suspects cash.

The victims did not contact police until several hours later because the suspects threatened to return and hurt or kill them, Caputo said.

The suspects got away with cash and jewelry, he said.

No suspect descriptions were provided.

It was not immediately known whether the robbery could be related to a similar attack that occurred about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of West Duarte Road.

In that crime, two teenagers confronted an elderly man taking groceries out of his car, punched him in the face and took his wallet containing about $1,200.

When his wife heard the commotion and came outside, they pushed her to the ground, duct taped her mouth and took her wedding ring.

The suspects put zip ties around both the victims' wrists before fleeing.
