FONTANA, Calif. (KTLA) -- The power was back on Wednesday morning for thousands of residents in Huntington Beach and Fontana.
The lights went out for more than 15,000 people in Fontana around 8:40 p.m. Tuesday, after a Mylar Valentine's Day balloon floated into a substation.
A utility spokesman said balloons cause problems every year on Valentine's Day.
A separate outage in Huntington Beach left over 21,000 people without electricity around 7:40 p.m. Tuesday.
Southern California Edison officials said the outage was caused by a malfunction at a substation in the area.
All power has since been restored.
