HUNTINGTON PARK (KTLA) -- Hundreds of students walked out of class Tuesday to protest the budget cuts and layoffs proposed by the Los Angeles Unified School District.

About 300 students walked away from Huntington Park High School around 11:30 a.m.

The students were headed to the LAUSD headquarters at 333 S. Beaudry Ave., to protest major changes planned for the campus.

The LAUSD will discuss a restructure plan for the school, including a requirement that all faculty and staff at the school be required to re-apply for their jobs, at a board meeting Tuesday.

Thousands of teachers, opposed to similar cuts and layoffs, are planning rallies and marches this week throughout the state.
