SANTA BARBARA -- Jesse James Hollywood has been sentenced to life in prison for orchestrating the kidnap-murder of a 15-year-old boy that inspired the 2007 movie "Alpha Dog."

Superior Court Judge Brian Hill on Friday imposed the jury's recommendation of life without the possibility of parole after denying a defense motion for a new trial.

The 29-year-old Hollywood was convicted last week of the first-degree murder and kidnapping of Nicholas Markowitz over a drug debt owed by his half-brother.

Markowitz was kidnapped from a San Fernando Valley street on Aug. 6, 2000.

Four others also were convicted in the teen's killing, including the gunman who was sentenced to death.

The crime inspired the 2007 movie "Alpha Dog," with Bruce Willis and Justin Timberlake.
