THOUSAND OAKS-- Police are searching for a man they believe is responsible for more than 20 incidents of sexual assaults to female joggers.
In the most recent assault on November 6th at 8:25 p.m., a female was jogging in the area of Northwood Place and Mabrey Court in Thousand Oaks, when a male suspect jumped out and pushed her from behind, according to Detective Javier Chavez of the Thousand Oaks Police Department.
The female victim fell into a bushy area, and believing she would be sexually assaulted, kicked the suspect and was able to run away from him.
Chavez says the victim didn't know which direction the suspect fled, and delayed reporting the incident.
Detectives believe the suspect is the same man responsible for over 20 reported indecent exposures in the same general area.
The indecent exposure suspect is said to have targeted female joggers and walkers mainly during daytime hours. He reportedly hid behind bushes and trees prior to exposing himself.
The last reported indecent exposure incident was on July 24th, 2008.
Composite sketches of the indecent exposure suspect appear similar to the suspect in the assault case on November 6th.
The suspect is described as a 30-35 year old white male standing between 6 feet and 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing in at around 180 pounds. He was seen wearing dark clothing, a dark hooded zippered sweatshirt and sunglasses.
Police warn anyone who encounters the suspect to use extreme caution, and to be cautious in the area of the reported assaults.
Anyone who sees the suspect or a suspicious subject in the area is asked to contact police at (805)-494-8229.
