WEST COVINA (KTLA) -- Police are asking the public Wednesday in the search for a man who grabbed a jogger in broad daylight and tried to rape her.
A woman in her late 20s was jogging by herself around 3:30 p.m. on March 30 when she was grabbed from behind and pulled into the bushes.
"The victim fought with the suspect and managed to break away," West Covina police Cpl. Rudy Lopez said in a statement Wednesday.
The attack happened on Tuesday Drive and Missouri Street.
The suspect was last seen running northeast on Tuesday Drive.
He is described as a 5-foot 7-inches tall Latino man in his 30s or 40s with dark features, brown eyes and black hair.
He is also said to speak with a heavy Spanish accent.
Police believe the man involved in the attack may have targeted women in the past.
In 2009, a 17-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by a man on her way to school on Shadow Oak Drive.
In 2001, an 18-year-old female was fondled from behind at a bus stop on Shadow Oak Drive by a man who meets a similar description. She was able to break free from her attacker.
"It is possible that there have been additional events that went unreported to the police," Lopez said.
Anyone with information is encouraged to call detectives at 626-939-8557.
